History Of Porcelain

For the last 1400 years man has been fascinated with the beauty of porcelain!Porcelain was originated in the East, and in the course of about 1000 years, the Chinese succeeded in developing their high value pottery into pure porcelain. This occurred in the 7th and 8th century during the the so-called “Tang Period”. Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus mathematician, geologist and physicist of Europen reputation, was instrumental in the development of the true European porcelain in 1693.Kaolin, feldspar and quartz are its raw materials. But it is kaolin that produces the pure whiteness and precious transparency in the porcelain. These three substances are mixed with water and used to form the shape of the vessel. Once the vessel is ready, it then must be fired to a temperature somewhere between 1280°C and 1400°C, hotter than any other type of ceramic ware .
